My path into the SAP ecosystem

An SAP technical consultant focused on ABAP development, I bring to the SAP ecosystem solid foundations built in front-end and back-end web development.

Currently employed by an IT services company.

Portrait of Alain Tardif

Introduction

I am a developer by training, now specialising in SAP technical development. My work mainly involves designing, evolving and hardening ABAP developments, with attention to readable code, quality and clear documentation.

My approach stays the same whatever the topic: understand the need before writing code, structure a simple solution, test seriously and document what deserves it.

A career move into development

My career transition began in 2021 with front-end and back-end technologies. This first stage helped me build solid foundations in interface design, application logic, data structuring and code quality.

These foundations remain useful day to day in the SAP ecosystem, especially when approaching UI5 / Fiori and reasoning in terms of models, views and separation of concerns.

Professional outlook

In the short term, my goal is to consolidate my ABAP skills and progress on UI5 / Fiori as well as the recent evolutions of the SAP ecosystem.

In the longer term, I am considering umbrella employment (portage salarial), then possibly independent work. These are perspectives: I am currently employed by an IT services company and do not offer external services.
